ABE THE APE: ALEGRÍA, CERÁMICA Y MÁS

If I tell you that I'm going to talk about Abraham Menéndez, you'll probably think 'well, it's ok, but no idea who he is', but if I tell you that today in our blog we want to talk about the artist Abe the Ape, then things change for sure.

In his website Abe the Ape presents himself: "Abraham Menéndez is a not-so-young Spanish designer who only aims to advance his cereer by showing his parents that his childhood drawing skills are more than a matter of lazy people and evil-doers". He told us that he worked as a furniture salesman for seven years all over Castilla, without a driving license and traveling by bus ... and in all that time the company did not know it... "until one day I got tired and I decided to change for doing what I really liked". This change was four years ago and since then he has not stopped working, receiving orders from companies like Chanel, Suarez, Steve Mono, Heineken, Perrier or Thyssen ...

The designs that Abe the Ape creates are vibrant, full of spark, acid, joyful and vivacious ... completely removed from minimalism. They are colorful and they add a touch of baroque that dilates the pupils of pure glamor and cinematographic lust.

In addition to the beautiful ceramic stamping designs on plates and the vases produced together with the Ceramic Center of Talavera de la Reina, lately he has developed a line of wallpapers for Coordonné which are really delightful. He has also worked with La Tapicera in order to design stamped fabrics to make a furniture line with its recognizable style.

And as his designs, with that personal and distinctive character, his Instagram account is a delight to sight and spirit. Their posts are so witty and fun, so far from the conventional and politically correct, that they have become an inescapable moment to face the daily monotony.

As he say on the website, the objects of Abe the Ape "should be used exclusively to make our daily life a more pleasant experience." And the better goal for product that comes out from the imagination of a creator is to make life more enjoyable to others.
